Visa assistance/immigration

Travel

Visa holders engaged in research at Schepens Eye Research Institute should contact Human Resources prior to planning international travel. All documents related to immigration should be in order and our Immigration Specialist will assist you with this.

While maintaining a valid visa stamp is not required to remain in the U.S., it is essential to reentering after a trip abroad, in most circumstances. Travelers with expired visas must revalidate their visas at a consulate abroad, with the home country being the preferred consulate. Obtaining a new visa stamp is never guaranteed and there are currently worldwide delays in visa processing. In addition, security clearance procedures can result in delays lasting several weeks.

All exchange visitors and their dependents are required to have their DS-2019’s validated prior to travel. Anyone in Human Resources can assist. Please bring your passport, I-94 and DS-2019 with you when you obtain this validation.
